Hartford Arms & Equipment

Hartford, Connecticut

Single Shot Target
A .22 caliber single shot pistol with a 6.75" round barrel, fixed sights and either ribbed walnut or composition grips. The frame marked "Manfd. by / the Hartford Arms and Equip. Co. / Hartford, Conn. / Patented / .22 cal. / Long Rifle" on the left side in front of the breach. Although this pistol resembles a semiautomatic, it is in fact a single shot manually operated pistol. High Standard assembled some of these guns and shipped them as Hartfords but in High Standard marked boxes.

Repeating Pistol
Although listed in most price guides, the existence of this pistol is in doubt. If encountered please have the gun checked for authenticity by an expert and advise the author of this site. The interrelationship of Fiala, Schall, and Hartford through the common gun designer suggests that if the Hartford repeating pistol exists, then it is probably a Hartford marked repeater like the Fiala and Schall. Numerous examples exsist of unmarked Schall pistols and some have confused the unmarked Schall as a Hartford repeater.

Model 1925
Semiautomatic pistol chambered for .22 caliber with 6.57 round barrel, checkered black hard rubber grips or ribbed walnut grips.. 10 round magazine. The frame marked "Manfd. by / the Hartford Arms and Equip. Co. / Hartford, Conn. / Patented / .22 cal. / Long Rifle" on the left side in front of the breach. It is estimated that approximately 5,000 were produced from 1925 to 1932.
